TEAM International Foundation Course is the first year of 4-year duration program, which is designed for our students to start their studies at the Foundation level and progress to the one of the three degree level courses after its completion.
WHO IS THIS PROGRAMME FOR?
The International Foundation Course (IFC) is a one-year full-time programme of study that we offer to students who wish to pursue their desire to study on a UK degree program. The course has been designed to equip students with the necessary skills and competencies for successful academic study on an undergraduate programme. All students who successfully complete this course will be awarded a TEAM Foundation certificate and admitted to one of the undergraduate programmes offered at TEAM University.

Applicants must have studied a broad range of subjects and have a general certificate of secondary education (UK GCSE) or equivalent, e.g. for applicants studying in Uzbekistan, the equivalents include:
- Certificate of General Secondary Education (O’rta Ma’lumot To’g’risida Attestat)
- Diploma of Academic Lyceum (Akademik Litsey Diplomi)
- Diploma of Professional College (Kasb-Hunar Kolleji Diplomi)
International students will be considered for admission through assessment of their submitted documentation pertinent to previous education.
Applicants must have:
- Grade C or above in GCSE level English from an English medium of instruction secondary school or equivalent; or
- An IELTS score of 5.5 with no less than 5.0 in the writing component or other English Language Test recognized by TEAM; or
- Achieved a pass mark on a TEAM recognised English language programme at the Pre-Foundation, Foundation or higher level.
Applicants will normally have to be 16 years of age by the 1st of October of the academic year applied for.

- Enhance the breadth and depth of students study and transferable skills and allow them to understand the importance and relevance of these skills within a higher educational context;
- Enable students to develop their own understanding of key concepts and principles that define their social, cultural, economic and political context; equipping them to engage civically within the local and international community they are a part of;
- Provide students with foundational knowledge of discipline-specific theories, concepts, and ideas.
- Scaffold students as they assume a central role in the learning process, encouraging their independent learning;
- Embed the use of technology throughout students’ learning experiences to strengthen their digital skills and their use for inquiry.
WHAT MODULES WILL I STUDY?
The course consists of six compulsory modules, each worth 20 credits.
This module focuses on the skills students need to effectively communicate in Higher Education and in the professional business environment. This includes strengthening students oral and written communication skills. Students will develop their presentation and public speaking skills through various seminars and practical workshops. They will also become competent in writing academic pieces and an array of documents commonly used in the professional world. This is a first step in enabling future graduate entrepreneurs to communicate effectively within various business environments, academic settings and in their broader communities.
Being globally aware is an essential 21st century skill. This module analyses some of the most important contemporary issues confronting the world, including the process of economic development, poverty and inequality, the environment, gender issues etc. The focus will be on the nature of these problems, their causes and effects, and potential solutions to these. The module will also develop other 21st century skills, such as critical thinking, creative thinking and problem-solving skills, as students reflect, debate and explore these issues.
The module has the primary aim of introducing the basic theories of micro- and macroeconomics to students and demonstrating how those theories are naturally embedded in the operational and strategical decision-making processes of any enterprise. Students will be introduced to the way of thinking that economists have, the jargon that they use and some basic techniques that they apply to analyse the data. The culmination of this module is a business case analysis, where students will have to apply all the new skills and knowledge to a real-life scenario.
This introductory module is devoted to the creation of a common understanding among the students of key contemporary topics in management, organisation and enterprise. These include but are not limited to concepts of external and internal business environment, principles of management, basic introduction to marketing theories and practices. Students will develop their competences in developing an organisational structure, managing information and communication in a business setting. The module serves as an initial exposure to the entrepreneurial context to equip the students with the background knowledge and skills to contribute to their successful professional experience.
The main principle of the module is based on the fact that students will be able to understand the importance of ICT and IM in creating small and medium-sized businesses and for the development of entrepreneurship. Moreover, during the seminars students will be able to learn how to analyse these principles and apply the necessary ones to create their own startup. Students will gain valuable insights on ICTs, which will allow them to work productively with experts from this field. Regardless of the business sector, this module will help them build a solid ICT foundation for more effective entrepreneurship.
The module focuses on types of business ventures and develops students’ understanding of the key phases and processes involved in a business venture creation from both theoretical and practical perspectives, and the means by which this understanding relates to the practical processes of new business start-up and growth. Business venture creators will engage in all activities related with venture creation including identification of business idea, finding capital, developing a marketing campaign, etc. Students will be clustered into groups to develop a simple entrepreneurial idea from scratch. This Capstone project to be developed by the students is a culmination of the module as it embraces all other modules taught throughout the second term.
HOW WILL I BE TAUGHT AND ASSESSED?
The language of instruction for the course is English. Your classes will be delivered in the format of seminars, workshops, tours, group discussions and virtual learning activities. Your lecturers will engage you in problem-solving tasks, assign activities for group work, involve you in games to improve your digital literacy skills and create opportunities for improvement of your presentation and public speaking skills. When it comes to assessment, we use a broad range of tasks such as portfolios, presentations, reports, in-class tests, and projects.
In your second term of studies, you will be working on one big project that will require you to consolidate and use all the knowledge and skills from all the modules you studied on IFC. To accomplish this task, you will be asked to work in groups with a mentor being assigned to your group. The mentor will be a person from industry who will guide and facilitate your learning together with your lecturer. We believe that such tasks will help you build the connections between all the modules that you will study.
