Today we celebrate the 580th anniversary of the birth of the founder of the modern Uzbek language, a great poet, philosopher and statesperson – Alisher Navoi.
His works are translated into many languages, and we would like to share with you some of his outstanding works in English translation:
Is it the glow of innocence that sets like two stars
Those amber drops, accentuating your moon-pearl face?
Do you know: perspired beads by the hundreds
Draw me forward like fresh dew drops to your petal-face?
Alisher Navoi, translated by Dennis Daly
